Watercolor Landscapes

Painting landscapes has long been a cherished way to commune with nature and return to a sense of home. Across mediums and approaches, artists continually reinterpret the land before them. In this workshop, we’ll focus on the “snapshot”, learning to capture a scene succinctly without losing, or even enhancing, its essence. Using reference photos as a starting point rather than a constraint, we embark on a soothing, delicate exploration of watercolor landscape painting.

3 Week Workshop -Gouache: Painting Color & Light

Experience the workability of watercolor with the flexibility of gouache in this workshop series, held on 3 consecutive Thursday evenings: June 25rd, July 2nd, and July 9th.

As an opaque watercolor medium, gouache offers endless possibilities for creating vivid, expressive paintings.

In this workshop, we will practice constructing simple yet strong compositions from the start, while building observational skills through still life study. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of light and shadow, along with greater confidence in creating clean, intentional color.

Beginner friendly; no experience necessary.

Ask Me Questions! “I want to learn watercolor, where do I start?”, “I’m on a good track, but would like some more advanced guidance…”

I teach oils, watercolor, color theory, mixed media, and drawing at all levels and take great joy in curating lessons for individuals and groups at every level. My great task in teaching is to present the material to you in a way that feels incredibly approachable, with endless room to “fail”. I love pulling the best out of my students in ways that are subtle and sometimes sneaky :) Art can be challenging, but I’m here to share my experience in a way that balances nurture with momentum, encouragement with forward motion. There is no such thing as being late to the game. If you feel the pull, let’s paint! or draw!
